I have been trying to come up with a new way to promote the Fort Familyroom Patreon page on Facebook. The way we have been doing it violates the Facebook Community Standards. You can’t directly link to adult content from your Facebook page, and they suddenly don’t like our normal “censored” tags that we place over the naughty bits.

So, now I’m trying out a method that involves the entire panel containing nudity and/or sexy time being covered with a “subscribe on Patreon” message. We’ll see what happens. I have my fingers crossed!

Last week I posted Fort Familyroom #583, the Demon Strations comic, to Facebook. I had the areas in the last panel that showed nudity censored. Well, they took the post down, and sent me a message stating my page was in trouble. I had violated their community standards. They didn’t like that the comic implied sexual intercourse. I was informed that if I continued to break the rules, they would no longer recommend the Fort Familyroom Facebook page, block my monetization, decrease my reach, or delete my account.

I wasn’t even aware that you couldn’t imply sexual intercourse in a Facebook post, but the rule exists. So, in the future, I’m going to have to come up with some other clever way to post my comics there. Facebook has been good to me, so I will comply. None of this will change how I have been posting on Patreon, the website, or on Reddit.

I don’t just draw comic strips, I love reading them too! As a kid, my favorite was Garfield. My art style is inspired by Jim Davis, as a matter of fact.

In the army I read Calvin and Hobbes, Bloom County, and Quibbley in the Stars and Stripes while stationed in Germany. The cartoonist of Quibbley, LTC Scott Wood, passed away in 2020. Today was a busy day! I recreated a classic Fort Familyroom comic from years ago, and I did a PMCS on my lawn mower! The comic, about a cook with kills, will post on Patreon today. Social media gets it tomorrow.

There’s an update on the SGT Knucklehead situation. He took the comic he stole from me down. Or Facebook did. Either way, it’s gone.

Yesterday I was informed by a follower on Facebook that my Military Holidays comic was stolen by the digital creator known as SGT Knucklehead. He used AI to alter it a little and posted it on his page here. I didn’t mind at first because as Oscar Wilde said, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.” By the end of the day, though, I was a little pissed off. His post got over 700 likes and that means it had a good amount of views. I’m assuming he’s monetized on the platform and made some money with my work. I’m letting it go, though. Fans of Fort Familyroom beat him up in the comments under the post on his page.

My wife loaded the same comic into ChatGPT and told it to make the characters look more human. The result looked really good. I refuse to use AI, though. A comic strip is all about style, and my style is what makes Fort Familyroom unique. When the machines rise up I’m gonna fight along side John Conner.
